Dreamwaves
December 13, 2008

This is a piece made because of the incredible concert, Dreamwaves by Satish Vyas. The first layer of mylar represents the santoor because of the complex and fluid notes. The underlying layer is the tabla, the percussion beat of the music which at times has a rounded sound then other times is very intense and abrupt. The charcoal sections represent the crowd clapping and the little drawings are meant to be people in the crowd yelling out. I loved making this project because I love this song so much. I had difficulty at the beginning especially with size and my concept of layering but I am happy with the outcome.

Sunflower~ google images drawn over and over on mylar. I like to think of it as everything growing organically from the small pot at the bottom..
Plexiglass cerca 1985

layers of paper between layers of plexiglass. we chose a very 80′s color scheme and shapes. it reminds me of a windbreaker outfit! seriously though, it gave us some practice in layering which i later did in my music project.

this one took some time. the hardest part was getting the proportions to match the original, its not perfect but we got pretty close. i think it turned out pretty nice. because of this project i found out charcoal is crazy, and now all over my tote bag.

A Misunderstanding

Ok, these are all wrong because I thought the assignment was to do simple line drawings from our photographs. In reality, we were supposed to do value drawings, sorry about that one.
